I did it!

Been dreaming of making professional looking quilt labels for a long, long time. Could not justify spending the money until this week. I know, I know, you will say I made a mistake in buying a combo machine that uses only the 4 x 4 hoop. However, for my purposes, that should be perfect. Best of all, I bought a barely used machine for over $100 less than the new price. I haven't made anything with it yet, as we're in the middle of a terrible thunderstorm, and I want to wait with plugging it back in until the danger has passed. Oh, my machine is a Brother SE625.

You will not regret it!I embroider all my labels anymore. I finally designed a label I liked the best and now the only thing I change on it is the date I completed the quilt. Of course you can have as many label designs as you like now -:).

Sounds great! - the embroidery, not the storm - you are dealing with the same storm that dumped 5.5" on us over night. we got 2.5" the night before and now everything is seriously flooding.

I'm signed up to take a Floriani class on stabilizers and design software tomorrow and Saturday. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get out. We have creeks north, east and south, less than one mile from home, they all flow to the James River about 7 miles west. We have to cross one of them to get out, and right now most of the dirt roads are under serious water. It's flowing so strongly over a few that I bet the road will be gone too.

We have one bridge to the north that is still passable, but it is still rising at this point.

Cathy, I fell your pain! We did not get near as much rain as you (so far), and I hope we don't. When you're looking forward to taking a class you've signed up for, it would be the pits to be unable to get there. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

You will be so happy to have your new embroidery machine. Will be looking forward to seeing all of your creations!!!

Congratulations. When I first started looking at machines the dealership tried to talk me into the larger and more expensive babylocks. I ended up getting a Janome 500e floor model. I honestly could not see spending the mega bucks on a machine that could possibly not be used because I was busy working on clients orders. Now I run that puppy all the time and will probably purchase a multi-needle in the next couple of years.

Could not find a dry way out this morning so had to miss the class. Hoping the water goes down enough today we can get out to the south tomorrow. Crossing fingers road is still there as we found three roads above water now, but damaged to the point of being impassable.

Cathy, I'm sorry to hear you had to miss the class. You are a quick study, I'd say, judging how quick you mastered the identification and understanding of sewing machine attachments. I'll bet you'll have all the tricks of the trade mastered soon with the embroidery world, too!

Congratulations on your new machine. I love my embroidery/sewing machine because when I take it to visit my friend in Phoenix I can use it either way. She was having trouble getting her sewing machine to go thru the multiple layers and my Husqvarna went thru it with no problems. At home I have a Janome 6600, Singer 15-9, and a Featherweight machines all ready to sew, so I leave my embroidery machine set up all the time. But it does a few things the other can't do, for one it will sew thru denim and t has has the Levi stitch.

Congrats on the new machine. You will be hooked. Is this your first Emb machine?

Yes, my first embroidery machine. It was only used twice by the previous owner who needed the space for another machine. Love getting a like new machine for a great price! Years ago I purchased an inexpensive Brother machine which I still love for doing bindings as I'm partial to it's walking foot. That machine had a very limited alphabet stitch built in but had no hoop. I got very mixed results trying to use it --- but that was before I new about using stabilizers!
