Janome 400e question-
Well, I got my new 400 just a couple weeks ago. Too much fun. Shoulda did it a long time ago. It's pretty easy to get going, even for me.
Question- Is there an accessible bobbin thread odometer somewhere in one of the menu selections? If so I haven't found it yet. I'm noting the stitch count on bobbins to try and avoid "runout." It would be better if the machine did the counting. I haven't run a bobbin out, so maybe a mid-job change ain't that bad. I just haven't let that happen. Incidently, I'm getting about 34K stitches out of a bobbin before I pull it. It looks as if there may be a 1000 or two left. What's your experience? |
My machines just tell me the bobbin is getting low, but a stitch count would be a super idea. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif
add info: To add that I have adjusted the sensor light on my bobbin so that it doesn't alert me until it is near empty. It seems almost all machines warn far too early-sometimes the bobbin is still half full. |
I have noticed that the warning about the bobbin thread getting low, will not work if I use a metal bobbin instead of a plastic one.

I know about the "low bobbin" warning. Mine has it, but as of yet I have not reached that point before pulling it. I want to know before I start a design if the bobbin is going to get there, not be warned that it is low before it's too late.
I'm not a sewing machine tech, nor have I spoken with one, but I know the "techs" have a diagnostic procedure for displaying total stitch count. I wish that info were readily accessible to the owner/operator. Maybe they don't want us tampering with the odometer? LOL |
I let the embroidery stitch until I get the low bobbin warning. Push the 'thread cutting button', take out the hoop, insert a new full bobbin, put hoop back and go back about 10 stitches. Works for me.
