Starch

Greeting,
I am using starch and I am getting spots on my fabric. I need it for hooping my embroidery. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

Spray the back of the fabric and let it sink into the fabric. Then iron.

You may using too much starch or not waiting before you iron the fabric.

PS: I hang yardage over the shower curtain rod, spray with starch, and damp dry. Then iron.

I add a little water.

I'm using a light spray of Best Press, no spots. They have a tute on how to use it, but I would never put that much on.

Exactly what Rhonda said!

Mist the object with water first and then spray with the starch. Never a problem with doing it that way for me.

Try making your own best press - Google 'quilters moonshine' guaranteed great recipe!

I have been thinking of trying the moonshine. Has anyone else here done that? Pros & cons info appreciated.

I use sizing sometimes over starch. It put the body back in I need without such a heavy starchy feel. All depends on the fabrics I am using. The other factor is if the fabrics are prewashed.
