Default Bernette Deco 600

Is anyone here at all familiar w/this machine? It was gifted to my daughter and she was told that it will do 4x4 and 5x7 but we are not sure if that information is correct. What I have found out is that it was made by Brother (I have a Brother machine) and that it uses the same cards. I have a PED-Basic to transfer designs to a blank card that I can then use on my Brother machine, and it works on the Bernette, but I can not do 5x7 w/the Ped Basic, so I can't download anything to test out the Bernette.

Hope that wasn't too confusing. Thanks for any help.

Does the software generally allow 5x7 designs? I'm not familiar with this one but a few questions for trouble-shooting the issues.

Is the design transferring to the card OK? OR are you saying the machine doesn't read the card? What is the error message?

What is the stitch count limit on the machine? If the machine limit is say 25,000 stitches a design with a larger stitch count won't work.

Does the software allow a 5 x 7 hoop? Do you have the hoop sizes set in the program?

Do you have other designs loaded on the card? You may want to try just one or two designs on the card. See if the machine will read one design.

Are you using the correct format for the machine?

That machine will only do a 4 x 4 design.

In order to do a 5x7 design, you need the 'repositional' 5x7 hoop for the machine, and the designs are split, so you do half the design, reposition the hoop, and continue. There are not many split designs around today...I have a few...I once owned this machine. It is ex machine, but I went bigger to now own 3 of the bigger ones. If you have digi software, you can split and save designs to the Basic card. Hope I've helped.
Edited to add..I still have the pe180Disney and pe200Snoopy machines that also do 5x7 split designs. The reposition all hoop and split designs are the key requisites.

To minibarn...Additional info re the PEBasic. You Can d/l all other design sizes to your card-- you just need to change the hoop size on the DL page. But you would still not be able to have your machine read the card because it is a 4x4 machine. Maybe one day you will upgrade to a larger machine and your PEBasic will serve you well. If you need more info re, I'd be happy to help.

Thank you for the help mermaid! Are you saying the Deco is only a 4x4 machine? I do have the repositionable 5x7 frame. How do I know if a design is a split design or not? What type of software do I need to be able to split a design that is not already? Unfortunately finances don't allow an upgrade at the moment, but maybe one day in the future that can happen. I'm just happy for these 2 machines (brother pe 150 and bernette deco 600) even if they are only 4x4!

A split design will say so and comes in two parts to load into your machine. The design stitches out the first half (sometimes the second part first if there are overlaying stitches), then you release the hoop, move to the next connect slot and select the second part of the design. I have PEDesign software, but there are many full digitizing softwares that can split your favorite 5x7 designs. I seem to remember seeing a program by BuzzTools that was especially for splitting. PM me and I will send you more info ( after I look thru my saved stuff.)

Answer to your ?? Yes the machine was made to only recognize a maximum of 4x4 designs. That's why the repositional hoop is needed...it allows a design to be sewn in two 4x4 stages. When I first used this hoop, it was to stitch leaves and grape vines all down the front of a bathrobe. It was so pretty, and I even maneuvered to make it turn the corner at the hem. So you can do very decorative work with your 4x4machine.
i dug out of cedar chest to show a portion of my robe. I still have the design and had forgotten until this discussion.
