    $10 sewing machine!

So I seen someone selling a kenmore 385 sewing machine for $10 online locally... They said it didn't work... So I figured for $10 be it....... Brought it home...adjusted all the tensions and it works GREAT! No it is nothing fancy. Just basic machine, but for $10 I was happy! Had to share

Isn't it just like our throwaway society for someone to get rid of a machine rather than put just a little effort into it? Good for you for turning a potential dumpster denizen into a happy, useful machine. Enjoy!

Wonderful. So glad the machine was rescued and has a new home.

I bought a Kenmore for $5 at a second hand store, but didn't have a chance to use it when the store called me and asked me if I was willing to sell it to another gal who needed a machine to sew something special on and didn't want to ruin her machine, so I said 'yes'. She came with thread and fabric and I said for $5 she couldn't try it out. I turned it on and let her look at it sew only that way. I told her that's how I bought it and if she wanted a $5 machine, that is how she would get it. If she wanted to waste my time, I wanted $20. So she paid $5. She told the second hand store it ran beautifully for her and she received a bargain from me. I'm glad she bought it for $5. I was busy that day and didn't have a half an hour for her to to waste trying all the stitches. And $5 isn't too much to lose if the machine didn't work. I showed her that it sewed without thread. I know there is a difference, but I didn't have the time.
