Have you seen this thread of mine, QuiltE?

The mom of the 4P kids' blankets thanked me again recently saying Nolan has to get his out everyday to find things. He's now 3. The squares in this one finish 2 inches (4" 4P block) These are really fun to make, so go have a ball!
Oh and I just gave away fabric that had Holsteins laying in green grass--I fussy cut the Guernseys and they were all gone from the "pasture"!

Working on one as we speak. I bought blocks from some of our members here in and ended using 6" blocks for a 5 1/2" finished block. Right now they are all joined together and am getting ready to add borders. My grandson is 14 months and I am making it large enough to use as he grows.

here are 2 pictures of what I call my 'cheater' I spy. I call it that because the original I Spy was done in hexagons and small triangles. WAY to many fabrics and too fussy for me! I start with a 6.5 inch sq and add 3.5 in triangles in 2 opposite corners. (be consistent with the corners!) I do the method where you put a sq in the corner and sew on the diagonal. The left over triangle squares are sewn together and then matched with another one to make flying geese. I use them in the border. Big brothers and sisters love to play match game! If I have any novelty squares left over, I either save them in an I spy stash, or if i dont' like them much(!) I use them on the pieced backing. I just learned I really like a solid for the triangles and border! Not sure I like the polka dot...
PS if you would like to see how I do those blocks, I can post a picture of a 'block in progress". You can start with any size block that you like, just making the corner triangle bigger or smaller to fit...

I used 5in squares, and will be glad to send you some to get you started. I tried not to repeat sq.
PM me if you want some.

If you can get 2 of each block you can make an "I-spy a match"
quilt to add another game. You can also make "themed" quilts for holidays, summer, games, sports, foods, etc. These take a bit more time to collect, but are fun.

Odd that you'd have not used the Holsteins!!! *giggles*
Though maybe you have other farm fabric we could trade on? Not that I have a huge stash of that either, but I can see it building!
