I tried to use it once and it drove me crazy. It just seemed to be in the way. If you can afford a quarter-inch foot for your machine, it's a better way to go.

I have always used it in every width. I love to crosshatch and have never had a problem. I got some green at Hobby Lobby that I really like in 1/4 inch. It sticks down well. I can not imagine hand quilting without it!
