Default chenille blankets

Hi, I know someone posted on making a chenille blanket and I have been pondering this myself for a few days....After much internet research I am having trouble finding out -- do you have to have a square to chenille? Can it be a different size -- say a 50 x 60?
Y'all are such a good resource!

You can do any size you want. The important thing is the lines of sewing must be on the 45* or true bias of the fabric. This allows the fabric to fray when cut and it will stay secured with the sewing. If you Google there might be pictures of other designs.

Like Tartan stated, you can do any size, you just need to get that true bias stitching.
