I don't know the 10 min table topper pattern, but I use Warm N Natural in all of mine, lays flat bt still shows quilting.

I have put warm and natural in some and also a very thin interfacing by pellon in some. I don't like the way the one I did with no batting washed.

Do a search for "10 minute table runner" at the top of this page. It really is nice and quick! You want the one in the tutorial section by OMA66.

the pattern I have calls for thin batting. I love to use the THINSULATE you buy on the bolt at walmart..might be else where, but Wm is all I have around here..I lies really flat and is great in runners and placemats!

I've used Pellon and several different battings....I find the seams are really thick when adding batting, difficult to turn. A friend trimmed the batting away from the ends(Points). No matter, I feel the runner needs something to give it body.

you can use felt instead of batting if you want it to be super thin and almost completely flat... I use felt for coasters

Yes, and no, and I liked the one with batting better than the one without. The batting I used was actually a piece of leftover upholstery stuff-like batting, but meant to go over the furniture as a last layer under the actual upholstery. (If that made sense at all...) It's very thin, just enough to show the quilting.
