Default 15-91 Recommended Topstitch stitch length

On my current project my plan is to topstitch a grid on the diagonal. I'm sure on previous projects I did not increase and they came out kind of a mess.
What is the recommended stitch length for topstitching? The backing does have a flannel center block if that makes a difference.
Thank you! Jo Anne

I tend to prefer a bit of a longer stitch for top stitching. I also have a 15-91 and I would set it around 10 or a bit lower, but nothing lower than 8.

minibarn, Thank you! Think I'll do 10 factoring in this quilt is a gift and I expect it to be happily used and abused. I made the error of piecing at 8 thinking I was at 10, changed it to 10 late in the process, hope it works for the long haul. I'll start at the 10 and if need be I can always go to 8. Thanks again!

I hate it when I forget to check my stitch length at the beginning of a project. I think you will be fine the quilting will help hold it all together anyway.

Hope it goes well for you, and you're welcome.

Do you have a bit of the fabric left you could make a sample with?

Sewgood, you're right! I could and should do that.
