I have a machine that came out of my Great Grandmother's house. My Grandmother was going to take it to Goodwill and I took it instead!! I can't believe she was just going to give it away.

I think I have determined that it was manufactured by New Home. I can see where it used to say "New Ideal" on it. It is black and the "golden" embellishments have come off.

It is electrical and has the motor on it and I have the foot pedal.

What confuses me is that it is on a treadle type of iron stand with a wooden table top and it folds down into the table. The table has two drawers on each side and a small fold down type of drawer on the front of the table. There is not a foot treadle on the iron base. I can not find a model number or serial number, I don't even know where to look.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My New Home Ruby has a small number on the back of the slide plate that covers the shuttle area. I was able to determine her age from that.

I think you're right, I think the New Ideal is a badged New Home machine.

What you're describing is a treadle cabinet that has had the foot pedal removed, perhaps to make space for the electronic foot feed after the machine was fitted with a motor.

Look on and under the slide plate, behind the pillar, and on the underside of the machine for a serial number.
