First of all sincere sympathy twoxover on the loss of your Dad.
My objectives for 2013 are

(1) to layer, quilt and bind a "group" Sampler quilt of 20 x 12" blocks.
(2) to layer, quilt and bind a "garden maze" quilt.
(3) to finish hand quilting an Angel quilt
(4) BUT the most important project for me is to FINISH my Dear Jane Christmas
Quilt, which I started in May 2007. Here is a link to my design wall if you would care
to have a look :-

I'd like to finish "some" of my UFO's. When I don't put a number to finish does it count? Work on improving my Needle Turn Applique skills.

My goals for 2013 include: Finish a quilt that I've started which has 6,547 one inch squares (1/2" finished), finish a Cotton Club quilt, make 10 Christmas gifts, (before Christmas week 2013), go to several quilt retreats, make at least 3 charity quilts for our guild, and plant and tend my garden and numerous flower beds. I might end this statement of my goals with a hahahahahaha!

What a fantastic thread!! Thanks Donna for getting us to thinking about and setting goals!! My prayers to all who have lost someone dear this year... for us it was my sister... it is so hard, but it helps to know others understand...

My quilting goals include: 1) finish hand quilting DH's quilt, 2) have DS's quilt quilted (saving for a custom quilting job), 3) purchase fabric for and piece DDIL's quilt, 4) spend more time with quilty friends quilting!!!, 5) learn to paper piece. I'm so very global, paper piecing seems so precise, I'm completely intimidated by it...
Finally... make my cardinal quilt from the pattern my new QB friend sent!! You are all such sweet friends...
Happy New Year everyone!!!

Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks so much for your kind reply running1 - I have loved this journey and when she is done - I would like to make Sylvia's Bridal Sampler by Jennifer Chiaverini - of Elm Creek Books. The blocks are a little bit bigger at 6" - that is my aim !!!
Kind regards, DottyD

This sounds like me -- except I did find my UFOs. I also organized my fabric and cut blocks and strips so well I can't find what I am looking for (sigh). I need to make notes of where I put everything. I can't find a couple of rulers I bought for a quilt pattern (more notes, I guess). I have been going through fabric and taking the stuff I know I won't use to church to make charity quilts -- at least the bigger pieces.

I am drowning in back issues of magazines and just when I get rid of some there is a pattern that I wanted to try. Need to get a better management system down for the patterns I want to try.

Thank you for starting this thread. First off, my prayers to all who have lost a loved one. BIL died in August - has been a bad holiday for sister - his birthday was Christmas Day and the family kept her busy, but the grief is still strong. NanaUpNorth, I broke my shoulder/arm in October. I too couldn't believe how much mobility and strength I lost the first two weeks of no movement at all. When I started therapy, I swore they were trying to rebrake it, but it has finally healed, I can type, I can use my rotary (one of my goals from breaking the arm) and I can put my bra on (the second goal I set from the break). It still hurts, but I'm pretty much back to what was normal for me. Keep it up with the therapy and it will get better.
Now for my goals - as a joke my hubby typed me a chore list for my quilting in 2013.
1) Halloween piece work (a embroidered quilt with halloween theme - quite involved surface embroidery)
2) Quilts of Valor (2 - have one cut)
3) Japanese circle quilt
4) Row Robin (a swap here on QB)
5) Pillowcase dresses (I make these for the children in the Phillippines)
6) Buttrefly quilt (I embroidered 9 butterfly squares -- need to make them into a quilt. Fabric has been on back order for 3 weeks. Maybe I won't get this done!!)
7) Friendship quilt (blocks done, need to finish, then quilt)
8) Cross stitch birds (I have 2 cross stitch bird patterns started, need to put time into the stitching to finish) and
9) quilt swap (another swap here on the board)
I don't have any lofty goals to learn to LA or learn a new technique - I'll do good to finish these on my list here.
Thanks for starting this thread - and hello to all you quilters out there - some of your names are new to me. I'll enjoy talking with you through the months of 2013. Cheers and prosperity to each of you.

I have 2 big goals for 2013:

1) Average one UFO finish a week (I have 78 on my list). The good news is that most are kid sized tops for Project Linus and I send out lap size and bigger to my LAQ. I've finished 16 since the end of September this year when I started quilting again so it CAN be done .

2) Learn how to FMQ. I've got lots of tops to practice on...
