I saw a thread recently about someone making a small pressing station from a wooden TV tray. I thought I bookmarked but can't find it. Can anyone help?

I made mine with a wooden Tv tray I picked up at a garage sale. I covered it with a couple layers of batting stapled to the underside with a staplegun. Then I covered it with a layer of that batting for use in hot pads and such...can't think of what it is called right now. I cut cotton fabric a little larger than the top and put a casing with elastic around the edge so I can take it off to wash it. I love it because I can keep it just to my right when I am piecing and press all seams as I go.

No help finding the thread for you but I have a wooden tv tray that I use for either pressing/cutting, particularly when I'm pp'ing. I just lay a folded towel over the surface and/or a small cutting mat. No permanent changes to the tray at all.

Silver Needle

I made one using a $10.00 oak TV tray. I covered it with 2 layers of thick cotton batting then a layer of cotton duck fabric. All this was shaped and stapled to the underside with a strong staple gun. Oak is hard and we had to finish tapping some of the staples in with a hammer. I then took 2 layers of muslin and cut it the shape of the tray and sewed elastic all the way around and took darts in the corners to make a removable cover to wash. I use Best Press on the seams as I piece so the top needs washed regularly.
