Default 6 inch finished Bear Claw

We are making a sampler quilt at our guild..... Everyone is doing 12 inch blocks but I want to spice it up a bit... our assignment is a bear claw this month.... I would like to do a 6 inch instead of 12... finished block... Can I simply reduce measurements in half???? or does someone have the dimensions for cutting... sure would appreciate any help....

you would have to delete the seam allowances of each piece, then cut the resulting measurement in half. then add the seam allowance back in

You would cut 4.5" for the square and make 2" finished HST for the claws. Hope this helps:

thanks Nan... this makes great sense..... I am just not too mathematical..... I had a friend reduce a paper pieced pattern on her printer by reducing it 50% and that didn't work..... do you have a method for that????

I think sdeaaz is correct. You would have to make the 4 blocks a little smaller, then figure out how wide to make your sashing to get to the size of the other's blocks.
