I need some help in finding the small felt square that is on the right side of the bobbin casing area of my 2 Singer 66's. Or is there something else that you put in there. These are recent purchases and should be replaced. I would appreciate any help that you can give me. Thanks again, Maiziedo

Can you provide a picture?
There might be a little red felt "flag" near the bobbin raising button - is that what you're asking about? If so, you can cut your own from a little piece of wool felt - there's info and a pattern for this on pages (2)H-2 and (2)H-3 of this publication:

I don't think my 66 has this little felt, but it's been a long time since I had it out. :)
I have seen quite a few machines that have created their own little pads of lint in the feed/bobbin area. If the owner didn't know to remove the needle plate and clean under there, it can really be packed tight with lint and oil - looks just like a piece of felt.

I have seen these for sale in the bobbin brackets on Ebay, about $12 for the whole thing. Do you still have the spring in place, that the felt fits into? If so, you can make your own replacement felt piece. My 66 has lost it's felt. People who don't know what they are for tend to throw them out, thinking they are some sort of fabric lint that got stuck in there... You know, you don't need the felt wick, really. Mine is missing the conical spring too, but as long as you put a drop of oil into the bobbin assembly every so often, you're okay. I have been piecing on my 66 a LOT lately, and I just put a drop of oil in there about every 4-5 bobbin changes.

Thanks polyparrot and sewbiggirl. The info. was great polyparrot. Copied it off for DH to study as he is cleaning mine all up. I have 3 now and I think I better stop. Yes, sewbiggirl, all the parts are there, it just looks as if the felt should be replaced in a couple. I knew I would get the answers I needed. This is such a terrific place to learn and get help. THANK YOU!!
