A ? about cathredral window quilts
I am thinking I would like to make a cathedral window quilt and wondering if anyone can tell me which size of background fabric and printed fabrics make the most dramatic quilt. I see all different sizes---10 inch, 9 inch and 7 inch background fabric with the smallest of these taking a 2 inch square. Also, is the smaller size harder to work with? I was thinking I could use more scraps if I used the 2 inch printed ones opposed to the 3 inch.
Any input appreciated.

I've never made a quilt but I have done a pillow cover. When I was taught to do Cathedral Windows it was all by had and I was told to start with a 5" square. It is a great way to use up scraps and they are so beautiful when done.
