I'm looking at buying a new SingerFutura XL 400 Embroidery and Sewing machine, as I would like to incorporate some designs I have for small quilts. Would some of you share your experiences with me? I have a singer surger I bought about 10 years ago that has been a real workhorse for me, but no experience with Singer sewing machines or embroidery machines, by the by I have been running and working with commercial embroidery machines for about 15 years! Now retired with time to work only on my personal stuff. Thanks in advance.

I would not buy any machine through Joann's or Hancocks. You don't get support like you will through a dealer. Also I personally wouldn't even take a new Singer if it was given to me. But you can always go to: www.sewingpatternreview.com and see what the reviews are like.

Are you 100% sold on having a Singer? My supervisor at work purchased the Futura Xl for her mother. Her mom, who is computer and machine savvy, became so frustrated with the constant issues she won't even sell it to someone!!

There are better home embroidery machines with more features at the same price point as the Singer.

Janome and Brother have the best low-priced machines, IMO.

I HAVEN'T HEARD TOO MANY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM,PERSONALLY I'D RATHER GO WITH A HIGHER END JANOME OR BABYLOCK. THEY WILL COST YOU MORE, BUT YOU WILL HAVE LESS PROBLEMS.

There's a Yahoo group called allthingsfuturasingerembroidery where folks could tell you the good, the bad and the ugly. They also have a Facebook group called Futura Embroidery.

I started with a Singer and had no complaints. Have now moved "up" to a 6 & 10 needle.

don't buy the quilting machine. I bought the machine and it has been in the shop 4 times in 13 months.
