Default Alternative for Janome 8900 O Foot

My new machine came home on Monday.

While I'm LOVING it, I'm not a huge fan of the O foot because I don't really like feet that have guides attached to them.

Can anyone suggest an alternative foot that I can buy?

TIA

Lynda

I looked on several sites and there are 1/4" presser feet for Janome that don't have the guides. Do a google search and see what you find. I know some people have also taken the guide off theirs. I'm not sure how they did this. Personally, I find the guide useful so have never bothered with it. I didn't think I would because my other machines didn't have one but now that I'm used to it I like it.

You can buy the clear 1/4 inch foot and use it without the guide.

I can't see with them there. I prefer to see the side of the 1/4" inch foot.

Thank you for your responses. Per the suggestion above, I went and bought the Clear View 1/4" Seam Foot.

I have changed to the straight stitch needle plate, checked by turning the hand wheel that the needle goes straight down the hole, but my machine will not work with the this foot/plate combination. I keep getting the "machine is started without the needle plate" symbol on the screen.

Help!

At this rate, I'm going to have to use the O foot with the guide. I'm losing time quickly to get two quilts done by Christmas.

Linda, are you sure you got the right Clear View foot? I believe they come
in two sizes. Make sure it's for 9mm.
You might want to check with the Yahoo Janome Horizon forum. Someone
will be able to help you.

Edit: Just had a thought. Are you using the straight stitch with the Clear View foot?
You don't want to use the 1/4" setting...just the straight stitch setting with the straight
needle plate.

Oh and your needle position should be centered.

What does it say exactly? ("Stop for safety reasons"?)

Have you seen that message any other time yet? Esp. with the single hole plate?
