I looked at the Husqvarna 875 today and also the Janome 6600 and Horizon. I am wondering if there is anyone out there that does NOT like the automatic presser foot lift on the H875? Is there a way to override it raising when the motor stops? I forgot to ask that. I am thinking about maybe when strip piecing or other times when you might find the auto foot rising annoying. Other than that, I am almost set on the H875.

I have the viking 875 and i love the feature of the automatic pressure foot, but yes you can actually cancel that feature with a push of a button.
BTW i love this machine.

I also have the 875 and love it. I love the automatic presser foot, I find it so useful to be able to pivot my fabric. I don't think you will find it annoying, it doesn't raise up that much, just enough to pivot the fabric

Put me down as another 875 owner who loves her machine. I had no problems getting used to the automatic presser foot. Like the others, it's one of the things I really like about this machine.

I have the 875Q.....it's a neat machine, has way more features than I need but it was a gift from my DD. Like the others have mentioned, you can cancel the "needle down" feature which is what causes the presser foot to raise each time you stop sewing. I personally like the needle down feature, it keeps the fabric from moving should you need to raise the presser foot for some reason.

I have the Husq SE with sensor foot...That was the main reason for purchase..LOVE IT...You can just push the button for arrow up and foot won't raise...But your needle also won't stay down...You'll find you will love the sensor foot and always use it...When cont. piecing you'll want the needle down in the fabric and the foot coming up so you can just feed your next piece and go.
I wouldn't buy another machine without this feature and I think Husq is the only maker of this...I've heard they have the patent?

I have the Sapphire 830 and love the auto lift. It only does it when in needle down mode. It is perfect for applique. But so far use it for all my sewing havent done applique yet.
I did not know Viking is the only one with this feature.
