I just can't say enough about Ami Simm's Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. Doing a search of this site, it appears that many of you are actively involved in supporting this worthwhile effort to raise funds for research of this dread disease. The mini quilts are only 9" x 12" and the variety is astounding. Here is the site if you have time to donate one, it would be much appreciated.

I have two for sale on the site right now. My Dad and Mother-In-Law currently have Alzheimer's and it is so heartbreaking. But, making quilts is something "I" can do to help.

sorry, I couldn't get them turned around

Is anyone else here on the Board making quilts for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initative?

I haven't made one, but I got the book Ami put together. It was a gift for my MIL who's mom died of the disease. I never got to meet her. And my FIL's BIL died of it, too. Jim was a very cool guy. It is just so sad.

Hi Joan, I love the quilts people are making for the iniative. Haven't made one myself. Instead made a couple raffle quilts to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. My Dad had it, his sister has it and my DMIL had it.

EDIT: Ami Simms was here a few years back and I got her Alzheimer's quilts book and she even autographed it.

There are several of us making AAQI quilts, myself included. I enjoy making mini's. It is such a worthy cause. The stories behind Alzheimer's patients is heart wrenching.
Your quilts are so diverse. The handstitching on the first is so nice and the coffee cup is so cute. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Joan,
Your little quilts are wonderful. Thanks for doing what you do for AAQI. I found out today that one of my little quilts (Little Logs) is in the AAQI April Auction. There is a neat video on You Tube featuring all of the April auction quilts - they are fantastic!

A bright, cheery little log cabin. Aren't they fun to do in this size? Congratualtions on the April auction. I just registered 8 online tonight.

A very worthy cause. My dad died with Dementia and my MIL from Alzeheimers. Both are heart breaking diseases.
