Hi - I've been on this board for nearly a year, and I go on it every day, usually more than once a day, because I love looking at everyone's work and seeing what others are talking about. I respond to other peoples' posts, too, although maybe not as often as others.

But when I post a picture of my latest completed project, I have found that I get a very minimal response from the rest of the board. Most pictures get over 100 responses, many get much more than that, while mine have been averaging under 20. This has happened so many times that I am forced to wonder if there is some unwritten rule I am breaking that I don't know about. I wouldn't ask, except that it happens every time. It's starting to bug me a bit, even hurt my feelings a little.

I love this board, but I'm not really feeling the love in return. Please be honest, is it me?

Mary B.

Sometimes it just happens that way especially if there are a lot of new topics posted in a day. I have some that have very few posts but I don't worry about it. Try not to let it get to you. We love you!!

I'm wondering if it depends on the time of day you post?

I do understand though - the last picture I posted got exactly ONE response so I wondered if the project wasn't worthy? I had posted it as a work in progress and then posted it completed so maybe our forum family was telling me they were tired of it? Or just maybe... it was a time when either a lot were posting so it was hard to get to everyone or ... very few were posting and it got buried before people saw it. Perhaps it's just happened that your posts have been at times when some lively discussion was taking up the general interest?

So ... I too have wondered about this. Try not to read too much into it. What surprised me the most was how much it bothered me! And I'm one that thinks it's funny when a picture has 27 "Beautiful" comments on it!

I am sorry that you feel hurt. If it makes you feel better, it happens to me often too. I notice that many people read the topic, but don't reply. So, I personally have put more value on those who do respond. By the way, I lived in the San Gabriel Valley for 13 years. I love San Marino :)

It's hard to explain what is going to get a lot of comments and what won't. I don't know the answer, but I just looked at several of your pictures, and you do fantastic work. It is very well made and quilted. I love the variety of work you seem to do.

Sometimes I think it might have to do with the time of day something is posted. Sometimes items get back to the first few pages by a newbie who is looking over old posts and brings them back for another round.

Please don't be hurt. This is a great board and a great bunch of people who are usually very helpful, courteous, honest (when asked to be) and would never knowingly slight someone.

Don't feel slighted. Some pictures get more response than others. I've posted some that got lots of comments, some hardly any comments. I don't comment on every quilt I see and like. If I did I'd never get off the board. I'll bet you have looked at and appreciated posts that you didn't comment on too.

Mary, no it's not you. There are hundreds of posts that go up daily and it takes a while to read thru all of them. I am sometimes on the board for hours reading mostly, and sometimes responding. Some posts I just read and then proceed to the next post. I don't leave a comment on every post I read. It's impossible. I would never get anything done. Usually responses are plentiful when a post is first put on. As you can see, the more posts that go up, yours moves down so sometimes members may not always look too far down to read the older posts.

Please continue to post pictures and ask questions. We are all here to help each other and I am sure you will get more responses the more you post. We all love to see pictures of works in progess so slap a few of them under the pictures category along the way. Continue to read other posts and respond to them as well by leaving a comment or asking a question to that post. Good luck and welcome to the board.

Oh, and it's happened to me too.

I'm sure you're not doing anything wrong or breaking any rules. If you are, then I don't know about them either...lol. I think a lot of people, myself included, look but don't always post. I find I don't have time to post and I guess I've posted on those that catch my eye for some particular reason or other..maybe it contains some technique I'm particularly intersted in at the time. That's not saying that there's anything at all wrong with those I don't post on. Everyone's work is unique and lovely and I enjoy looking at all of them. I have posted only a few pictures of my work and I've had some that haven't attracted a lot of comments but that's just the way it goes..nothing to worry about.

Don't let it upset or worry you. Just keep creating and posting your work because I know everyone loves to see what we are all doing, whether we get many posts or not. Just keep enjoying your quilting..that's the important thing :)

I have had a similar experience here and felt as you do. I'm sure it's not you, I went back and looked at some of your posts and thouh I hadn't left a comment I did remember your quilts and thouht they wre lovely. You do good work. I think the other posters are most likely right, some days on the board are busier than others. People often look but may not have time to comment, even on projects they like. I guess we need to learn not to take it personally -lol!!
