I have a love/hate relationship with binding. I hate to do it but love that it means the quilt is finished. I don't do any hand work and since someone introduced me to this youtube, I can do binding with less hate.

No you are not. Now I put on a 2 1/2 inch binding and sew it down from the top with my walking foot and stitch lenght 3. If you take 3 inches it is even easier. After I hand sewn it down on my first two quilts I resorted to this. If I do hand sewing I like to do it in quilting or applique but not binding.

I don't like stitching it to the back either, but I am also not good at machine stitching so I don't do that either. I will stitch the binding to the front and then leave it for awhile. Then I will get tired of looking at the quilt just sitting there and the only thing that needs done is the binding sewn on that I will go ahead and take the time to do it! Its not even like it really takes me a long time to do it, I just don't like doing it. I think it is hand sewing in general. However I was thinking about making myself a challenge for next year. Every other month I HAVE to spend the whole month hand sewing, whether it be piecing a quilt (maybe finish that GMFG I started last year) or just doing binding. However that is still eight and a half months away, plenty of time to change my mind. :)

Definitely not! I can't seem to get it right and it gets tiring for sure. I keep working on it and someday it might actually come out right LOL!

I agree that I like it because it means I am almost done. I used to put it off, but I decided to do it all by machine, so I can get it all done in one whack at the sewing machine.

I love binding. I machine sew it to the front side and hand sew it on the back. I love to do hand work, so it's right up my alley!

I actually enjoy binding. I find it relaxing and I love using the ladder stitch that a wonderful person posted awhile back. It's invisible and you don't need any clips to hold the binding in place. Doesn't get any better than that.

No, as you can see there are several of us that don't like to do binding. I put it off as long as possible.

watch the episode I did for QuiltersTV on Binding. It is under Quilters Cafe and check the program list to see when it is showing. I believe it will make your binding life easier.
