I have BIG dogs with sharp toenails so I always have shoes or my slippers on. Always sew with shoes on. Don't want to risk stepping on a pin.

Me too! I press on the foot pedal with my big toe only -- I feel I have better control that way.

I never wear shoes when I sew - some days I don't even wear a sock. It depends on how cold it is in the house. Seems to be pretty common practice here.

Same here. If God would have wanted me to wear shoes, I would have been borne with them on. LOL

I always sew with my shoes off so I can feel the pedal. I have worked with many surgeons who work in their stocking feet so they can feel a pedal if they are using one.

I do that too. I am going to try sewing without my shoe on my right foot to see if that helps. Oh me!

My shoes go on as soon as I get up and are the last thing I take off at night. That"s one reason I like my Janomes. I can control it by pushing a button and don't have to chase my foot pedal around all over the floor.

Me too... NO SHOES! I have also never worn them even in HS HE. Here is a suggestion to those who drive til they can't reach it anymore... I had the same issue and it made me crazy.. I put some of that sticky shelf liner under the pedal now it doesn't move on me!

See my posts with picture of it under "sticky shelf liner" I can't figur out how to insert a picture here.

oh ok, after posting it allowed me to insert a picture - I am still learning this forum... :)
