Well if you had spent 3 months on crutches from stepping on a needle when a teenager, you would not be around any sewing tools without shoes. The needle broke in my foot and took about 40 minutes to get it out in the operation room at hospital. Believe it or not, it is a common accident. My shoes are first thing on in morning and last thing off at night. When my grandchildren were little they thought I slept in them.

I always sew with shoes on. There are rules against people not wearing shoes in stores where I live. Classes at library and community center would say wear shoes also. Sounds good to sew barefoot at home but in my case, I would find every pin I dropped in my foot! :)
