Default Animal faces in my quilt

I know the title is a little odd I don't know how else to word it. I would like to make a quilt with my pup's face on it. I don't know how to go about it. Should I transfer the picture to fabric? Or should I try to apply pieces of fabric to a background and "paint" her picture in this way. I have not done either method before but I have appliqued before. I have been quilting about 13 years..any ideas would be helpful!:-)

Great idea!

You might want to take a photo to the office supply store. Have the printing department enlarge it and make a few prints for you. You might only need one copy but nice to have an extra one. Use tracing paper and make your applique pieces using the method you like. It sounds like a fun project!

PS: There is a special sheer fabric that you can put over the picture and draw the markings. Then make the applique pieces and transfer them to your background fabric.

Here are some tips to get you started.

I recommend you Google "pet portrait quilts"

there are loads of resources out there including on line classes, blogs and tutorials as well as numerous images to give you inspiration and perhaps help you narrow down how you want to go about doing this.

Edited to add this link to a pretty good tutorial

If you have a specific breed you could find a drawing online and do machine applique'.

I made this for Jim a few years back.

Oh good grief, I read the title to this thread and thought it said "Animal feces in my quilt".

I think I need to go to bed.
