Funny story about the 6" magnetic dish. I knocked mine off the table at the church hall-----onto a concrete floor. Now, that cup may be magnetic and it may be tough, but when it smacks that concrete flat bottomed, pins fly everywhere.

THANK GOD! I also had the telescoping magnetic wand, so pick up was almost instant. And if not, the bottom-bottom is also VERY magnetic so just passing the holder over the pins helps pick them up.

I also use one on a regular basis. It sticks to the iron board and can't be pushed onto the floor. taking it to retreats in a baggy makes life so simple. It is also a great gift to a secret sister along with a box of pins.

I bought one of these bowls also picked up a wane that has a magnetic tip, works wonders helping find dropped pens and metal items.

They are also great for parts and screws when working on or cleaning sewing machines. When putting a machine back together it is convenient to find all the parts easily.

I use one when I travel or stitch in my Lazy Boy. I have it in a rubbermaid container with a lid. Makes it very easy to transport without pins falling out. I also put my sissors, thimble and thread in the container. Everything in one spot.
