....love batiks! Florals? Only if bright and bold... Made a Turning Twenty quilt out of batiks and have to say, it makes me smile every time I see it!! Michael Miller fabrics - most of them, like. Amy Butler - most of her line I don't like. Good thing the fabric designers are many!

No, you are not alone. I don't like Batiks either. I can't tell which way the pattern is supposed to go. The only other thing I really don't like is Gingham. It is too sheer for the work that I do. I prefer to go to plain old cotton with the checked patterns. Works just as well, actually better for me and has the body I need. Thanks for asking. Thought I was the only one that didn't like Batiks.
What about everyone else? Anything you don't like? Batiks? Civil War repro? 30's? solids? Do you like everything, especially if it's on sale?

It depends on the project. I went through my calico stage when I started then large prints. Not a big fan of the civil war type stuff. I made a few Amish type quilts back when. Love black and red(in small bits). I have gravitated toward solids, tone on tone and hand dyes. I do like the retro 50's type prints though. Geometrics I also buy.

So here's the reverse - I really don't care for Civil War - too drab and muddy looking!! Although since this year I joined a Civil War tribute club and now have a greater appreciation for the era fabric - love my brights and batiks (of course, if the fabric it to my liking I'll buy it because I like it!). So, if the fabric fits - buy it!!! :lol:

Batiks are lovely. Just keep a sharp needle to sew them. Also any fabric that holds a wrinkle when bunched together is one I stay away from if I can.
