Has anyone else received the offer via email for the Quilt Pro Systems Mariner's Compass Vol.2? If so have you viewed it and is it worth the 19.95 download? We have until 6/9 to purchase with $10 savings. I think it's all done with foundation piecing instead of templates (I don't like templates). I didn't buy Vol.1

I bought Vol1 when it first came out, like, 10+(?) years ago and have used it many, many times. I really like it, and it is very easy to use.

However, it is a bit......quirky.
Especially the printing.

But if you like doing MC's in all shapes and sizes, it's definitely easy to just whip out the foundations with this software.

I'll probably buy Vol2 just to see if they made it less .....quirky. ;-)
And if I like that, then Vol3.

I have Vol 3 and I love it so far. I want to get the quilt pro software so I can save my blocks to it and add the backgrounds. You can print templates or foudation. I use the foudation for mine and I just finished an 8 point compass last night and I'm getting ready to print out a 12 point one to do. It does use a lot of paper but is fast with the printing. At least you can make them any size you want to. I've had no trouble with it so far. You can even print out the compass block and this way you'll know where to put the colors you want. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

Ah, so the quirkiness still exists.

I usually end up canceling the print after the first page and needle-punching the rest of the foundations (using vellum or freezer paper).

I thought of doing that too but my printer shoots out the paper so fast that I need a baseball glove to catch it, LOL,, But I do like the idea that you can make the blocks any size you want to. Huggies, Fay

Dumb question: Do you need the Quilt Pro Systems software to use the Mariner's compass program or is it a stand alone program?

Stand alone. But having QuiltPro gives you the option to save your blocks and incorporate them into your quilt design.

I just use it to print the foundations in the desired size.
