I have a Baby Lock Ellegante that I have used for embroidering squares that I have incorporated into a quilt. I have not tried the designs for "quilting". I have a few, just haven't started the quilt to use them on. I think that the embroidered squares would not look right if done with the batting and backing. Loved my Ellegante so much, have gotten the Ellisimo for Christmas and am selling my Ellegante. If you haven't tried it, you really should, embroidery really adds to quilts.

I use my Janome to quilt. I especially love to make applique blocks with it. Here is one I'm working on for my 4 yr. old DGD who loves Little Ponies.

I have done this. I really liked how it turned out. Lots of re-hooping, but I liked the results!

McBrow, you can do this. I have a Brother Innovis and have quilted with it. It is a long and tedious thing to do. If you compare it to Free motion or a long arm. Take your time.

Before you start a quilt think of a smaller project. Square table topper, pot holder. That way if you are not happy, the whole quilt is not trashed.

BTW, I have a new machine in my sewing room. Brother 1000e. I am excited about getting used to this machine and quilting a few things. It has a larger frame than my Innovis.
