I use a canning jar with a wire hanger wrapped around the lip and twisted to make the loop for the thread. That obviously wouldn't work for actually on the Tin Lizzie. Good luck rigging something ladies!

I think this may work...she uses a regualr size thread spool, and uses a file to file down the top of the sppol, then sticks it inside the cone. she has this gadget on top of her little janome Gem. and it works perfectly!

She collect threads old spools at garage sales..but she claims the inside spool comes out..although i couldn't get it out to show you more of the spool..sorry.

My impression of a Deelybob

I love that tip!! How very clever and resourceful!

Sounds like a character out of spongebob lol I hadn't heard of this before, but had a contraption to use the cone thread that broke... I like the modified paper towel holder idea, ingenius!

I use a thread stand which I then place to the right and slightly behind my Babylock Ellageo. The stand doesn't get in the way when I'm machine quilting.

The deelybobs set on the upright spindle of the machine, which on mine is optional. When in use it is placed on the bobbin winder. What a stupid place to put it, because you have to take it off to wind a bobbin. So I still need the cone stand when I wind the bobbins.

The only problem I have with the cone thread stand is my cat catches the thread on her tail and strings the thread around the room so I have to make sure she can't walk between the machine and the stand.

While I'm sewing she sleeps in a basket to the right and back behind the machine and thread stand.

I purchased mine very inexpensively a few years ago. I love it.
When I use it on my Pfaff 7570 I put the plastic spool adaptor on my upright spindle then the deelybop so it has something flat to rest on. I then put on the spool - I use the spools of
signature cotton thread for all my piecing. I also use the smaller deelybop for the thread with the carboard centers and that works great. I have not used the "washers" for anything.
I use this on my babylock quilters pro also.

Me too!!! . I have something similar (although mine is not adjustable) that I use with my old babylock serger - works for me. I think the washers are for those who have a horizontal post (my regular Singer does).
