    Default Lovers Knot and Flowers

I'll be making a wedding quilt for my DGS using the Lovers Knot pattern. I want to put appliqued flowers around the border. Do you think that will look ok? There will be no flowers on the body of the quilt. Thanks for your input>

That's a neat pattern to use for a wedding quilt. I googled images and can't seem to find any that put appliqué with that block, but you can do whatever you like, it's your quilt.

Thanks for the google images of the quilt as the pattern wasn't immediately familiar. I love google images of quilts and quilt patterns because it gives me inspiration.

As long as your flowers are large and strong colored, I think it'd be fine. Nothing dainty. Men like flowers, too. The Lover's Knot is angular enough that it won't look too girly. Besides it's for both of them, not just him.

I think she said a wedding quilt, so maybe there's to be a woman to consider!

absolutely! applique here and there can really look great with pieced blocks... all round, or just in opposite corners going part way down each way... I would probably make sure I included the same fabrics in both areas, but yes, I think it would be more than okay....

I would simply make sure the quilt was not 'girly' in terms of colors...the number one combo that men like is blue and brown... 3 shades of blue, 3 shades of brown, white or ecru background and you are set... he'll love it...

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement. I have very little confidence in my quilt designing skills. As long as I have a picture I do ok but if no one else has done it I'm hesitant to try anything different.
