I want to make my daughter a quilt for her birthday on jan 4th 2012 :) I honestly think this might be how long it takes. I used to read this book to her when she was little and she mentioned how much she loves it. I have absolutely no idea how to put this together. I would love it if someone can direct me to steps for a beginner. My secret santa gave me some great iron on applique sheets (she must have been reading my mind) I think that first step is to make a templete would you make one center piece and match fabric to the book??? See what I got myself into@@@

Sorry don't know the name/can't see... but are you wanting to do a bedsized quilt with different blocks designed from the book, or one large portrayal of that front cover?

Do you want to use pages/pictures from the book, or just the cover?

if you can trace it you can do it-----remember to work on the behind pieces first ie the hand gets put down then the sleeve +cuff over lays a bit you have added to the hand at the wrist---add a 1/4 extra to the bottom of the boat the water is layed down on top to the correct level as you see it---this gives depth-----clear as mud???

That looks like a brilliant idea - don't worry about the time frame I am currently doing one - all applique and will be hand quilted for my sister for 2012 also - do other little bits as well in between!! I think I would try to keep the colours similar to the book - makes it more authentic - keep us updated with piccies
