I'm working on the Civil War Bride quilt and I'm not able to fit all the applique pieces on the background block. Each block has many applique pieces closely spaced. I've checked and rechecked the directions, the background size and carefully traced the applique pieces on freezer paper and on the right side of the background fabric. All the pieces shown in the pattern just don't fit on the block! I don't have a problem with changing/adjusting/rearranging/modifying things on a pattern, and I've done that on this pattern, but I'd like to know what others do in a similar situation.

Hey girl!! First, did you print these off on your printer? If so, look to see if they printed out the correct size, sometimes you need to adjust. For example: A lot of sites will give you a 1" block to print to make sure your printer is printing at the size needed.

Checked again. Nothing about scaling up or down on the general instructions or the individual blocks. But you did give me an idea...the blocks are not drawn to scale.
Thanks, mom :D :D
I'll scale down the applique pieces a bit on the next blocks for the quilt. That'll work.

Hey, Minister.
Have not a clue about how to send a picture. I'm NOT computer savy. But you can see the finished quilt if you google honeybee fabrics and look for it on BOM, or you can just google Civil War Bride quilt and a picture will come up.
There's a lot going on on this quilt, so omitting a few pieces on a block isn't going to matter...to me.
Take a look and let me know what you think.
