Default Lovely quilts!

These are lovely, thank you for showing them to us. All the help pouring out on this thread is exciting to me!

My "Double Trouble" cats fishing quilt is one of my favorite original designs. It just won a Blue Ribbon People's Choice for Favorite Cat Theme at our local Friends of Pets fundraiser. I bought the quilt back because I loved it so much.

I have been making art quilts since 2008. Due to 5 back surgeries, I find it very hard to make larger quilts. I love to dye my own fabrics with Procion dyes and do Shibori techniques while dyeing. I utilize these fabrics, beads, Angelina fibers, yarns,
felting these fibers with my Huskvarna small felting machine. I also dye and paint batting, and capture fibers under tule and FMQ over them (See artist Noriko Endo). I also love to paint and heat shrink Tyvek. If you are at all interested in "playing" I would suggest Quilting Arts Magazine. THey are also on public television - but not now - check your DVR. Also, Quilting Arts TV website has hundreds of projects with instruction and photos from the past 10 years. THese are free. Great resource. Sorry, no photos right now...hard drive is in the shop since this AM. Hope she is not too sick...happy quilting.

I did not know what art quilts were. I went to an art quilts show and took some pictures. I would be willing to post them if anyone is interested. I have done oil paintings of landscapes and waterfalls and want to do something in a landscape quilt, but, I do not know how to do this.

I'm very interested in art quilts. I'm trying to design one now for my DS and his wife that will incorporate photos from their 10th wedding anniversary trip to ST. Thomas last summer. I will be watching this thread for more inspiration.

Quilt University has loads of classes for aspiring art quilters, along with their more traditional quilting classes. Their class calendar thru May is available online, as is their full list of all 120+ classes. http://www.quiltuniversity.com/calendar.htm
It's a wonderful way to learn and they have some great professional art quilters as instructors.

Judebug, I'm so glad you started this thread. I have been wondering the same thing myself but have always thought there were more traditional quilters here than art quilters. I have always been drawn to art quilts but it has only been in the last 10 years that I have ventured into using various collage techniques, paints, thread painting, crystals, beads, yarns, etc. My inspiration comes from books, TV programs such as Quilting Arts, the quilting arts forum, and attending art quilt shows. This is my first attempt at attaching photos under this new format, so I hope I am successful.

The first was a retirement gift for a childhood friend celebrating her love of Asian fabrics; the second was for a friend who loves lighthouses and seagulls; the third was based on my photo of the floor of the Doge's Palace in Venice. All are fabric collages cut from my huge fabric stash and adhered with Mistyfuse, then thread painted and embellished with crystals and beads.

Great quilts! I can see why you bought back the cats. I wouldn't want them to go anywhere but on my wall. Pictures are perfect that size you can see the little lady bug. I'm not familiar with the braid you couched around the flowers.
The texture is wonderful.
