How do I know what the maximum distance apart I can quilt with the batting I'm using? I bought it off a roll at my LQS, and forgot to ask. It's an 80% cotton - 20% poly very low loft batting. This is my second quilt - my first one was a 9-patch variation, so I quilted on every "row" of each 9P block and it was fine. This one only has one "seam" in each block, so my SID quilting is much farther apart. Help?

Thanks!
Jan

I usually quilt with no more than 6" of space between each line.

On my latest package of 80/20, (Fairfield is the brand name), the recommended quilting distance is listed as 2-4" apart. Does that help?

I would do no more than 4'', I think you would be safe that way!

I'd call the LQS and ask them. They should have given you a copy of the batting info, even if you forgot to ask, so you know how to quilt it and how to care for it.

I try not to go further than 4" apart. That's what most of my batting calls for.

If you are wanting to start quilting tonight and need an answer on your particular batting you could google it...if not I would call your LQS and ask.

I have no idea, but this is a good suggestion
