Default squaring up

Quick question: do you "square up" each section of a block, or just square up each block when it is completely sewn?
Hope that makes sense... and thanks!

When all the blocks are done, I square them up then.

I square up each section of the block as I'm constructing it. Especially flying geese and half square triangles.

I am one of those that square up every sub-section of the block. When I do, I find that the resulting block is much flatter, squarer and closer to the size that I want in the end.

Then when all the blocks are complete, I do the final squaring up so that they are all the sane finished size.

if you know the sizes of each cut piece, then you would check them as you use them. but usually you square up your completed blocks. always use a ruler with a 45 degree line you can place from corner to corner to maintain squareness.

It depends... I always square up any patch with an angle, like a HST or flying goose, then check the block for square when it's done.

I cut so that the piece is square or to size. That means that each HST, QST, or such are also squared after sewing. Then will square each block.

All tips in this area are so welcome. I don't mind squaring up a block, but due to space the squaring up of a quilt is what I dread.

ditto. but i try to be very accurate in my cutting and 1/4 seams to avoid the necessity of squaring up.
