Default Scallop border help needed !!!

My quilt is 60.5" across ...... what size of a circle do I need to make a scalloped edge template ??? Been working on this 5 hours now !!! NOTHING is coming out ! I have ordered the quilt in a day ruler for this, but we are stumped !!! My DH & FIL are now trying to figure this out , to no avail !!

Is it because it's not 60 but 60.5" across ??

THANK YOU for your math skills !!!

I was going to suggest something like this option with the freezer paper. http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/03/...quilt-borders/

Here's what I would do. I would cut a piece of freezer paper (or other long paper such as waxed paper) to the length of the quilt and another to the width. I would fold the paper in half, then half again, then half again to evenly divide the length into equal sections. Once I had a section size I like, I would experiment with available saucers, cups, or whatever I could find around the house that is round to find a curved shape that fits well within the section size.

Alternatively you could use a compass, drawing a straight line down the middle of the paper (or maybe several lines if you don't want a full half-circle for the scallop) and use a compass to draw between the folded sections.

I haven't watched them, but there are several Youtube videos that show how to draft a scalloped border:

I learned something .... NOT a "scalloped" border .... but a "WAVY" border ! So there are no points , but a wavy edge ??

For a wavy border, wouldn't you just reverse the scallop in every other section? You would want shallow scallops -- maybe a quarter of a saucer instead of a half saucer.

I am math challenged so I use paper the length of the side, (plus the amount on the bottom and top) and fold the paper in half, then quarters etc. This gives me a crease for spacing my circle on the paper(plate with painter's tape across the middle). Once I have the outer curves where I want them' I reverse the plate for the inner curve. Once my paper pattern is perfect, I cut out the edge and pin it on the quilt. I do the other sides the same way and then stitch the curves before cutting the sandwich.

Make 10 inch scallops and fudge a bit by adding the .5 inches somewhere in the middle. If the ruler doesn't work, use a regular ruler and a dinner plate.
