Default basting a quilt - does some tape work better?

Recently I started to baste my quilts by taping the backing to my kitchen floor. I have been using just any tape that I have around the house - not really sure what it is just that its 2" wide

I am low now and will need to buy more tape. Have any of you found that one type of tape seem to work better than others? I just wanted to check before I bought just any tape

Thanks

I've had no problems using blue painter's tape. I usually tape my backings to a set of banquet tables set up for quilting and it's never pulled the finish off. Minimal pulling of threads in the backing fabric, just go slowly when removing the tape.

The last time I got tape it was an orange "masking" tape, it's better than the regular and the blue masking tape, but when I went to get more, of course now they don't have it. LOL I'll have to check Home Depot the next time I go to Klamath Falls.

My favorite tape is Harbor Freight’s own brand of ‘blue painters tape’. It’s tacky enough to hold my backing securely to the floor (or table), yet gentle enough that it doesn’t fray the fabric when I pull it off. And it’s quite affordable compared to name brands. Good luck with your project!

Humm.. I will have to try that one. I live close enough to Harbor Freight to pick some up for the quilt I am working on.

Be sure it's the paper tape. I bought a roll of blue tape and it had plastic feel. It was super or ultra or something like that. I couldn't tear it I had to use scissors with every piece.

Green "Frog" tape is wonderful and doesn't leave a sticky residue. Probably the same as blue painters tape...just green!!
