I shop for mine at Bat.com and they usually have good sales going on. You can buy single battings or by the roll.

I always use Hobbs 80/20 but Warm and Natural from JoAnn is good in a pinch and coupons are always available

I know this is unpopular, but I get mine from Wal-Mart. It works great. I get the 80/20.

I bought some fat quarters from Wal-Mart so I could make practice blocks for a sampler class I was taking. I was making expensive mistakes on the expensive fabric. Made a quilt for the kids playroom with those Wal-Mart blocks and it has been abused and still looks great 10 years later.

This is not the least expensive site but she has a wide selection of different battings is you are looking for something specific, she has great customer service.

Question What is 80/20?

Everyone is talking about an 80/20 batting, praytell what is it. I assume it is a blend but of what? Guess I am out in left field on this one.

When you say 100% cotton, do you really mean 100% cotton because it that has to be quiltet quite closely together or it will come apart.

Even Warm and Natural which is advertised as all cotton has a polyester scrim to hold it together. Warm and Natural and the other Warm Company products can be quilted with quite a distance between quilting lines. I always quilt closer than the maximum distance because I don't like the look of minimal quilting but sometimes it does come in handy.

The 80/20 (like Hobbs) is 80% cotton and 20% polyester fiber. It has the stability of cotton and the airyness of the polyester.

Warm Blend is a 50/50 cotton/poly blend and it feels great and needles quite well.
