Use 100% cotton batting and don't pre-wash it or the backing fabric.

oh, i think it is sad that your family would make you feel like it is unattractive. it is NOT. it works, it really does. you did a great job!

i used the hobbes wool and it did not seem to shrink very much at all.

using hobbes 100% cotton gave my handquilted quilt a gorgeous antique look.

your quilt isn't ugly!

Wonder what would happen if you washed it in hot instead of cold water after it was quilted?

If you use unwashed flannel on the back, that will help with shrinkage.. as in, it will wrinkle shrink a lot!

Okay...you just aren't supposed to say that....that you want as much wrinkling and shrinkage as possible! You might make some of us go into convulsions..as we struggle and strive for smoothness and firm shape! "Please don't wrinkle" and "please don't shrink" are the constitution of quilting!!!! LOL!!!

But may I ask..as I calm myself from shaking...why do you want those to things in this quilt?
