Mary Sue's Triangle Ruler HAVE YOU USED IT?

I phoned a quilting shop and asked for a couple of triangular rulers as i do not have and in the post today arrived this one. I do not have the book and am STUMPED on how to use it and for what patterns. Yipes :shock: I see there are her books for sale - must i buy them or which one OR can i use a normal pattern? Is there a turorial i can see or a video? Can someone help me please - thanks
