Although I'm not familiar with that particular model, I love the two that I have. I bought my first one when I got an inheritance almost 20 years ago; it's still going strong and is the one I use most. In between there I also had two Janomes, but was never happy with their stitch. A friend who is a Pfaff fan uses mine when she has heavy sewing to do as Berninas will go over/through anything!

I have a Bernina 830 which I purchased in 1974 and was considered "top of the line" back then. I would NEVER give it up and hope I can always get parts for it. It still runs beautifully after all these years. I purchased a Janome Horizon 7700. It is a good machine, but not as good as my old Bernina. I use it, but often I will turn to my Bernina for quality stitching and features. I purchased Bernina's new state-of-the-art 820 in July of last year. It's a helluva machine! My sister bought a Bernina Activa 220 (I think). I have sewn on that Bernina and while it is a less expensive model, it sews very well and produces a well-sewn product. Nothing sews like a Bernina.... nothing!

I think Berninas are nice, I have used 1130 and 830s that belonged to friends of mine, but my machine of choice is Pfaff. Not so much the brand new ones but the "made in Germany" models. There is not a machine on the market that has the great built in walking foot like the Pfaff has.I dont want to fiddle with an attachment if I want my seams to match perfectly I just snap my foot down and off we go. I have owned 4 Pfaffs up to the 7570 and all of them have been champs. Now that the company that owns Pfaff/Viking/BabyLoc and Singer are all the same, they are putting an even feed foot on the new ones. I have a Baby Loc Quest, but its walking foot does not work like the Pfaff does. I never had to take any of my machines in for service and I could use whatever thread I wanted. Do go to a store and at least test drive some of the other machines. Also dont overbuy features you wont need. Analyze what you are doing with your machine and buy the features you will use most often. For sure needle threader/ needle up/down and multi speed motor are on my list, but maybe you would want other features. Good luck and Happy Shopping!

I have a Bernina (20 years old) 1260 and an Artista 165 that also has the embroidery module. Once you have a Bernina you will not want another make. They are work horses and have all metal gears. A lot of the machines now have plastic and don't last as long. Go Bernina if you can possibly afford to, you won't be sorry.

Mimmy, I felt the same way when I was making payment on my Bernina 830 Record way back in 1972.... And I still have her. Every time I take her in for regular service and cleaning I get ask how about trading this machine. Lol. Never going to happen. I also have a Bernina 153 for the fancy stitches, needle threader etc. Take a test drive and think about and then decide. I am sure you will receive many responses to your questions.

I've had 2 Berninas and they're great. The first is mechanical. The second is computerized and two of the boards had to be replaced. Still fixing was a lot cheaper than buying new. I also have a Brother 1500S; straight stitch only. When I bought it there were very few with a larger throat space for FMQ and the straight stitch is great! Now I have a 11# Brother for trasporting to class-not sure if I like it. The small Bernina may be a better choice. And Bernina has just introduced a large throat for quilters, embroidery is extra. Bernina is my #1 choice.

I have had two Berninas and loved them both. Started with a 440 and traded it in on a 730.
I still wish I could have afforded to keep my 440 but wanted them embrodary of the 730.
Support from you local dealer is inportant as you will need the classes to get the most out of your machine.
I have never regretted spending the money on Berninas although I do get teased by quilting friends about
buying top of the line.

Personally, I have a problem with spending money on a sewing machine that cost more money than the cars I buy. LOL I love my big Elna that I bought used from the dealer, so that is my suggestion, go to a dealer and see what they have in higher end trade ins.
