    Smile Summer quilt

Im currently working on our King Size quilt n want to use it for the summer. As I already have a winter quilt. How should I keep it light weight for the summer? Can it be quilted with just the backing? Or should use like thin sheet in between?

Why not put a very thin flannel in between? that might be lighter than batting.

Others on here have talked about making summer quilts. We just use a quilt here in the summer, W.A/C on, if a sheet isn't enough. We use a ceiling fan also. I always use high loft polyester batting, seems to work well year around.

Why not just use flannel for the backing and forget the batting? Seems to me this would work.

I use a thin cotton batting in all my summer quilts. I like the way it makes my quilts look plus it's nice & light-weight.

I agree. Quilters Dream brand - their "Request" loft is the thinnest, nicest batting for a summer quilt if you're not using flannel.

It has just enough loft to show the quilting, but not be heavy or hot. (Then again, I've been sleeping in fine comfort under a quilt with their wool batting while it's 74 degrees in the house!)
