I'm sandwiching this now. Any suggestions for designs to quilt on it?

The Stars and Stripes? Wow! That pattern is pretty, but so busy that I would think it would be really hard to decide on a quilting design.

Not being an expert, I would probably go with quilting around the stars, then improvise if there were any blank spots between the stars' "circle" of points.

Other members will have much more expert advice for you. I just couldn't resist replying. It will interesting to see which design you decide to use.

The first idea that strikes me is to echo the stars throughout the quilt. I think the stars are beautiful, and it would be really neat to echo them in the "bars" part of the quilt. It is beautiful, though. Cant wait to see it.

No clue, but that one has been on my "to do" list for a bit.

I've been admiring that quilt for awhile, too. Hope you'll post a pic when yours is done. I'm a hand quilter, so my favorite method on Log Cabin quilts is to just quilt right down the middle of each "log." You might do that, and then quilt 1/4" inside each seam in the stars. If you're a machine quilter, you probably have far more options available to you!

What a lovely quilt. I think if you quilt around the stars it would make them pop out more. But I also think the suggestion to quilt stars throughout would be great too. Or you could quilt around the stars and then quilt the inner squares, if that makes sense.

Just an update. I'm contemplating all of the ideas I have received, but I had a terrible set back. When I layed out the quilt top and had it over 3/4 of the way quilted creating a huge blister on my pointer finger, I realized that I had some of the blocks in the wrong direction and the diagonal stripes weren't quite diagonal! :(

So, I had my DH look at the quilt without telling him what was wrong to see how noticable it was. Poor man. He was asking what I really wanted to hear...LOL!

So, I spent my spare time, removing seams and re-stitching things back together. I'm almost to the point where the last seam is complete (then ran out of bobbin and time). So, I expect to finish the last seam today and then start pinning the part of the sandwich that I had to take apart back together.

Although I would have loved to remain blissfully ignorant to the mistake, if I saw it after it was quilted, I would have been worse.

Thank you for the support. When I get it back together and laid out, I'll contemplate the ideas and determine a) what I am capable of doing because I am a beginner and b) the amount of time I expect each option to take.
