There are many great tutorials on the web for doing binding. Leah Day had finishing a quilt with machine sewn binding this week on her quilt a long. Charismah has a great binding technique on QB under Quick machine binding with flange. I usually sew my straight of grain, double fold binding to the front and hand stitch to the back. If I want a machine binding, I use Charismah's method. The only time I use bias binding is if I'm doing curves or scallops. Find a method you think you would like to try and bind a couple of pot holders to see if it works for you.

Once I found this method, I haven't looked back. Makes it sew much easier and faster to do binding.

If the link doesn't work, you might have to copy and paste it into your browser bar.

Good luck, binding isn't that difficult and gives such a nice finishing touch. This is a straight binding, not around curved edges. For that you would need a bias binding tutorial and there is one on this board under tutorials.
That's actually French fold binding and won't help Pat at all. Double fold and French fold are two different things and 90% of the tutorials you'll find are for French fold binding even if they call it double fold.

It took me a while but I finally found the page that shows the difference between double fold and French fold binding.

I would watch any video you can to demonstrate binding - there are multiple tools and ways to bind a quilt - I had the best luck with watching Holice (the same one on this site) and his method of binding - once you get it - its easy - just find the way that works for you and practice.

Thank you so much everyone!! I will check it all out before I begin binding. I really want this quilt to come out nice, since in all the years I have been quilting, it is the first one I have made for myself!! I knew I could count on the QB family for assistance!!

I LOVE binding a quilt. Don't be intimidated. The one step that I suggest is that once you finish folding over the corner, sew a few inches and stop. take the quilt out and test if the binding folds over to the other side and creates a nice mitered corner. If not, just use the seam ripper and try again.
