Default Binding cutter

Is there such thing as a 'binding cutter? a Machine or gadget that will cut fabric into 2 1/2 " strips? I think I remember seeing one a long time ago but not lately.

There is the Simplicity Rotary Cutter machine which doesn't get good reviews from most quilters as it is difficult to get straight and accurate cut strips. Do a search here on the board. There are many threads about this machine. I have the Accuquilt Go with the 2 1/2" strip die but I rarely use it. I am more likely to pull out my June Tailor Shape Cut Ruler and my rotary cutter. Much easier and quicker as far as I am concerned. You can get it at Joann's and use a coupon which makes it more affordable! http://www.joann.com/search/_shape_cut/

The June Tailor ruler mentioned above makes short, accurate work of the job as long as you are accurate folding your fabric. I love it and use it for cutting squares for cornerstones, too.

IF the Simplicity machine was a two blade system I could see it working...but since it has a guide and one blade and fabric is soft material I just cannot see it cutting evenly unless you feed VERY carefully.

I agree that a good old ruler and rotary cutter are the most accurate way to go - and the easiest in my opinion. By the time you get the fabric loaded in the machine and make sure it's going to be straight, you can cut several strips and be done. Sometimes the gadgets aren't worth the minute or two saved - especially if they don't work very well.

I love my June Taylor Shape Cut Ruler! With a new blade in my rotary cutter, cutting 2 1/2" binding strips is fast, accurate, and easy.
