Default Block pattern needed

I saw a picture of quilt block that had a heart in the centre, made of rail fence type strips. The stripes ran across the block in a diagonal, i.e top left to bottom right tip of heart and the remaining piece of the heart was at a different angle but was also rail fence type of strips.
Setting squares made the remainder of the block background.
I think this was originally a paper pieced pattern but I'd like to do something similar with regular piecing if possible.
My brain is failing me on figuring it out.
I cannot post an image as I only saw the block briefly and I do not know where it came from originally.
I want to help a youth group sew these blocks, hence the avoiding of the paper pieced pattern idea.

Any and all assistance in designing appreciated, or if anyone can direct me to a pattern for this type of block I'd appreciate it.

TYIA(Thank you in advance)

Jenny at Missouri Star does a heart block with horizontal stripes, but you could rotate your strip pieces to cut it on a diagonal. I’ve done her pattern without the stripes and it was very easy.

I think I may make it as an applique as that method will be easier for the folks I'm drafting it for.

This block pattern uses 2.5" squares instead of strips. You could alter it to use strips instead.

None of these is the one I saw. I've since gone with a different design, and I'll post pictures when I get the sampler done.
Thanks for looking/helping.
