My very favorite thread is YLI. The wooden spools are neat too. I have tried many different hand quilting threads. Though you didn't ask, my favorite needle by far is the Hiroshima Tulip between. They are pricey, but worth it. I found them on Amazon.

I'm not familiar with either YLI or the Hiroshima Tulip between -- will have to check them out sometime.

I have only used two kinds of thread for hand quilting -- Gutermann hand quilting thread and Aurifil 28 wt. The Gutermann is quite wiry, while the Aurifil is very soft. I can't say I really have a preference for one over the other, it just depends which brand has the color I want.

I love Superior's King Tut thread. I have also used YLI hand quilting thread. Both threads are 40wt/3ply.

Presencia finca no. 12 is the tread I'm using on this tread to do the embroidery but it is being solid in my local quilt shops to do the new big stitch quilting .

Aurifil 40 or 28wt (depending on how much I want it to show).

I use primarily Gutterman as it's what is readily available. I will also use C&C and/or the Americana brand sold at JoAnns. All specifically labled as 'hand quilting' thread. As someone else mentioned, I use whatever brand has the color I want.

I use Roxanne betweens, usually size #11 and a Thimblelady thimble.
