I put the thread thru the little hole, wind a few times, stop and trim thread and then let it wind. If I don't my bobbin doesn't want to wind it just spins. I wind 5-6 each of white, black, and navy or 2 of other colors for large projects at one time so I don't have to stop and re-thread in between projects. I make clothing and do alterations as well as being a newbie at quilting.

I dont share your shame because in my world there is no shame in how you thread a bobbin.

that tech doesn't care because he won't sew with that bobbin when it gets to the end and the thread balls up or breaks because you didn't start with the thread though the hole! trust me, been there done that.....I always thread thru the hole, then start the winder, clip the end as short as possible....never any problems

I usually put the bobbin on the bobbin winder and then stitck the thread end throught a hole in the bobbin and hold it for the first few turns.

I always put the thread in the hole and hold it until it starts winding. While it's winding, I hold my small scissors up to it to cut it off. i could wait and cut it off after, but I just like doing that.

OK! I'm not sure about how correctly I wind my bobbins - I use the small whole, but then I also hold and hand wrap the thread around the same bobbin - So I do both - it's worked for 25 years! So I think what ever works best for you and your machine - go with it.

Viking Sapphire - no little holes. I miss them. I always get some windy snarls that sometimes cause problems when getting to the end of a bobbin.

I'm a wrapper! I lick the end of the thread and it sticks to the bobbin and winds nicely.

Through the hole and hold it,then snip it off once it gets started, continue winding.

that's how I do it as well and not sure if if was from my home ec days or my mom's - but we had the same home ec teacher in 7th grade (much to the home ec teachers upset when my mom pointed it out to her during open house) so I guess it is a wash
