Would anyone know which screw I would need to buy for my bobbin case?

Its one of the two screws that attaches the tension spring.

There are two to choose from.

A tension spring set screw and a tension spring adjustable screw slotted.

Maybe that will help with my stitching issue. :)

Is the screw stripped or missing? Or do you want to adjust the bobbin tension? You probably already know to hold the thread up and pull slightly. The thread should come out of the bobbin easily, but still have some tension from the case.

in every bobbin case there are two screws. one holds the tension and that one is teeney weeney. the tension-holder itself is fairly wide, almost as wide as the case, and has the slot that the thread comes out of. that is the tension spring.

the other screw is slightly larger. it holds the the tension spring itself to the bobbin case. when you adjust the tension, you always use the teeny weeny screw. try never to use the larger screw. you should almost never have to.

i tried to keep this clear. hope it worked. now -which screw do you think is missing? is the case and spring falling away from each other? is the tension just too loose? that will tell you which one is missing.

I have a Singer featherweight. The two screw holes are vertically alligned.

I have the top screw, but the bottom screw is missing.

I don't know how it is with the featherweight. I have never had a problem losing that screw, but I do upholstery work and when one of my screws came out, I was told that you can't just buy the screw you have to buy the whole bobbin assembly. I don't know if that is the case with the home sewing machines.

Maybe a call to a repair shop will answer your question.

I would take the case to a local sewing (and vacuum) shop. If they have been in business a while they should have the screw. I would strongly urge you to join the Featherweight group at Yahoo. They have a wealth of information about cleaning, adjustments, etc., and are very willing to answer questions.

carol, the screws should still serve the same purpose. one should attach the tension spring to the case itself. one should adjust the thread tension. if the thread is too loose and tightening the screw doesn't get the thread tighter, then you'll know it's the thread tension screw that's missing. if the thread gets tighter when you tighten the screw then the missing one is the one that attaches the tension spring to the bobbin case. clear as mud, huh? in any case you'll have to take it into a repair place, because the screws are probably measured in metric measure which are hard to get here. they'll have to get it for you.
